Everyone loves a jelly donut! They are a fun breakfast or snack for all occasions. However, it can be hard to find vegan options for these treats. Start at step one to learn how to make vegan jelly donuts.

1Heat soymilk. Microwave the soymilk for about a minute. You want to warm it but don’t want it to boil. You can also heat it on the stove.
2Add warm soymilk, yeast, and sugar to a large bowl. Stir and let the mixture sit for 3-4 minutes until it looks frothy.
3Add applesauce, softened vegan butter, vanilla, salt, and flour to the large yeast bowl. Mix together for a few minutes. Add the remainder of the flour and continue mixing.
4Knead the dough. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about five minutes until you have a nice ball of dough.
5Rest the dough. Lightly grease a large bowl and place your dough into it. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm area for 30 minutes.
6Cut the dough. After letting the dough rest for half an hour punch the dough down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about half an inch thick. Go to cut the dough with either a large biscuit cutter or a donut cutter.
7Place the cut dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for about 15 minutes.
8Heat the oil. Heat the oil until it reaches 375°F. You can use a thermometer to make sure.
9Fry the donuts. Add a few donuts at a time to the oil and fry for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. When the donuts are golden brown that’s an indicator that they are done and should be removed from the oil.
10Let donuts cool. Place donuts on a cooling rack with a pan underneath to catch any oil that is dripping.
11Fill donuts with jelly. Cut a deep slit into the side of the Donut and use a piping bag with a tip to pipe the jelly into the donut.
12Serve the donuts. Place all the donuts on a plate and dust powder sugar over the top.
