Cooking with an air fryer is a great way to develop a crispy texture on your foods without using a lot of oils and fats. This recipe teaches you how to make a healthier version of a deep fried Oreo to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Ingredients1 pack of Oreos1 to 1.5 cups of pancake mix2 eggs1/4 cup of milkCooking sprayPowdered sugarStepsPart 1Part 1 of 2:Preparation
1Make the batter used for coating the Oreos. In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix with the milk and eggs. Whisk until it becomes a smooth consistency. Using a whisk instead of a wooden spoon or rubber spatula introduces air into the batter for a lighter texture. Set aside once done.
2Cut out a piece of parchment paper large enough to fit onto the base of the air fryer.3Coat one side of the paper with cooking spray. This will help keep it in place in the air fryer.
4Place the paper into the air fryer base.
5Close the air fryer and preheat to 360 °F. Follow the appliance instructions for directions on configuring the temperature and timing.Part 2Part 2 of 2:Frying the Oreos1Insert a fork through the mid section of an Oreo.
2Dip the cookie into the batter to coat it.
3Remove the batter-coated Oreo from the fork and onto the parchment paper inside the air fryer. Repeat this process until you’ve filled your air fryer with the desired amount of Oreos.
4Close the air fryer back and cook for about 5-7 minutes. Once they appear light golden brown, take them out and transfer onto a plate.
5Sift the powdered sugar over the cookies. While holding a kitchen strainer over the plate, spoon a small amount of the sugar into the strainer and lightly tap it against the palm of your free hand. A light dusting of powder will coat the cookies.
6Wait until the Oreos cool down, and then serve.
