How to Use Remote Desktop With TeamViewer

TeamViewer is a computer software used to remote control desktop sharing, online meetings, web conferencing and even file transfer from computer to computer. So if you have a home or small office network with computers in several different locations, you may want to use a remote desktop to work on all of them on one workstation. A neat thing about TeamViewer is you can also use all of the features with their phone applications also (available for Android and iOS)! Other operating systems compatible are Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The TeamViewer products do require a purchase if you are planning to use it for businesses. However, personal use of the remote desktop does not require a purchase; you just do not receive the business and commerce components.

Steps

1Start by downloading the Teamviewer software for your computer(s) from their website, http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download and save the file on the Desktop.

2Open the setup file (which should be “TeamViewer_Setup_en.exe”) to begin the installation. If a pop-up appears, click “Allow” or “Run” to give permission for the software to install.

3The setup will open up option page on how you want to proceed and you will have three options to choose on how you want TeamViewer to be installed.

4Then below will ask you to choose whether you are using TeamViewer for “personal”, “company” or “both of the above” use. According to TeamViewer, “personal” use is any use for which you are not directly or indirectly paid. Choose carefully then advance to the next step.

5Installation is finally done at this point, hooray! Wait for the setup to finish downloading the files on your C: drive. Next, TeamViewer will automatically generate a random ID and password to be used to connect to other computers and cellular devices. You can, however, create a personal account instead of just remembering digits.
